The EIT RawMaterials Greece Representative is excited to announce the 10th edition of the Greek Raw Materials Community Dialogue, a flagship event inspired and supported by the EIT RawMaterials.
π
Date: 6 November 2025
π Location: Divani Palace Acropolis Hotel, Athens, Greece
π― Topic: “Fostering a strong and innovative Raw Materials Industry”
Celebrating 10 Years of Impact
This year marks a major milestone for the Greek Raw Materials Community Dialogue, a decade of collaboration, innovation, and strategic growth in one of Greece’s most vital industrial sectors. The event will celebrate these achievements and pave the way for resolving future challenges and seizing opportunities in the Greek and European Raw Materials industry, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, academia, researchers, and RTOs from across the value chain.
The 10th anniversary of the Greek Raw Materials Community Dialogue is focused on further strengthening Greece’s position in the European Raw Materials ecosystem by addressing the following key thematic areas:
Securing Europe’s Raw Materials supply: the position of Greece
To ensure long-term resilience, the EU has set ambitious 2030 targets: extract at least 10% of its strategic raw materials annually from within its borders, process at least 40%, meet 25% of demand through recycling, and reduce dependency so that no more than 65% of any strategic material comes from a single third country. With rich geological resources and a growing technical expertise, Greece is well-positioned to contribute meaningfully to these goals. The discussion will explore how national initiatives can unlock Greece’s mineral potential, reinforcing its role in Europe’s secure and sustainable raw materials supply chains.
Unlocking investment: Funding the Greek Raw Materials ecosystem
“Full and rapid implementation of the CRM Act” is not just a recommendation; it’s a call to action. As outlined in Draghi’s report, achieving Europe’s strategic raw materials goals will require bold decisions, coordinated efforts, and substantial investments, estimated to be between β¬10 billion and β¬100 billion. Greece presents promising opportunities for growth across the entire raw materials value chain, from exploration and mining to processing and recycling. This session will offer an in-depth look at investment prospects in the Greek raw materials sector, focusing on how financial instruments and EU-level funding opportunities can mobilize long-term capital and position Greece as a key contributor to Europe’s resilient raw materials future.
Shaping the Raw Materials Future Together: Workforce Transformation and Public Acceptance
Workforce development is one of the most urgent challenges the raw materials sector is facing today. According to the European Commission, the green and digital transition is expected to significantly increase demand for talent, with the raw materials sector anticipated to support 32 million jobs and generate over β¬2 trillion in value by 2030. This shift requires professionals not only to be equipped with green and digital skills but also to be aware of the societal dynamics that shape the sector. Securing the Social License to Operate (SLO) is crucial for building public trust and ensuring the long-term success of raw materials projects. This session will explore national and EU-level efforts aimed at creating a future-ready workforce capable of driving innovation and sustainability, while also fostering public acceptance of the raw materials sector.
From Ideas to Impact: Innovation in the Greek Raw Materials Sector
This poster session will showcase projects that advance innovation, industry, and education to strengthen the Greek raw materials sector. The session will highlight initiatives funded by the European Commission, EIT RawMaterials, and national programs, offering tangible solutions that support sustainability, technological advancement, and resilience. Participants will present achievements, share best practices, and engage in cross-sector dialogue. By celebrating collaboration and knowledge exchange, the session aims to foster new partnerships and reinforce Greece’s position within the European raw materials ecosystem.
